Rossendale Valley Outdoors
The Rossendale Valley is recognised for its picturesque, rolling landscape, with a vast and varied countryside. The Adrenaline Valley is rich in outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, water-skiing, mountain biking and horse riding.
The Rossendale Valley is home to a number of different routes for walkers and ramblers – like the 12 mile East Lancashire Railway, the Headley Dell Nature Reserve or walks that circle Rossendale’s collection of remote rustic farmhouses and dry stone walls.
In addition to walking routes, there are several cycling routes to choose from, including a brand new section of the East Lancashire Cycleway, which was completed in 2019 with the reopening of two railway tunnels that had been out of use since the 1960s.
There are mountain bike trails located in two quarries above Bacup. Cragg Quarry offers 4 miles of single track and, Lee Quarry which has over 6 miles of black and red graded mountain bike trails and pump tracks.
There are a variety of Golf courses in the area, including the Rossendale Golf Driving Range & Academy and for little ones, Animal Quakers – a fantastic little petting farm in Bacup.
