Helmshore Mills Textile Museum
Located in the village of Helmshore are two original Lancashire textile mills – combined they are known as Helmshore Mill Textile Museum.
Here you can find out how raw wool and cotton were spun into yarn ready to be woven into cloth, and witness original machinery at work.
In particular, how the wet woollen cloth was thumped by powerful fulling stocks and powered by the waterwheel with original machinery of international importance. You can follow Lancashire’s journey through the industrial revolution by exploring the museum’s Revolution Gallery.
Afterwards, why not spoil yourself with one of the region’s food and drink offerings?
