Even the shopping in Rossendale has been shaped by the area’s industrial heritage with mill shopping being the main event. Winfield’s Megastore, Musbury Fabrics and Lamberts Mill Shop are the three principal mill shopping locations.
Rawtenstall Town Centre is a conservation area built around Bank Street , a traditionally cobbled high street. There are numerous, predominantly independent traders offering a wide range of goods, gifts, food and drinks, clothes for children and adults covering a wide price range, textiles, flowers, works of art, chocolates, cards, shoes and household items. No visit to Rawtenstall would be complete without walking along Bank Street and taking in the wonderful atmosphere at Fitzpatrick’s – Britains Last Temperance Bar.
Rossendale’s alive with charming Lancashire markets, so enjoy a slice of local life and made a date to visit the valleys there markets in Bacup, Haslingden and Rawtenstall. With over 80 specialist stalls stocking over 5,000 lines you’ll find it hard to leave empty handed. The traders offer a warm and friendly welcome and remember parking is free at all three markets.
On the first Sunday of every month, Helmshore Textile Museum car park is home the very popular Rossendale Farmers’ and Produce Market where between 09:30 and 14:00 you can purchase the freshest delicious locally produced lamb, beef, pork, ostrich along with black puddings, cheeses, and some sweet treats… be early as some stall holders sell out quick.
