Loop 3: Around the Head of the Cowpe Valley

A splendid high level circuit around the head of the Cowpe Valley, mainly using tracks and old highways. The views are extensive especially to the North and overlooking Cowpe.

Starting Point: Waterfoot Car Park. Distance: 5 miles / 8km. Direction: Anti Clockwise

From the main car park in Waterfoot, turn left, cross the main A681 and turn right into Cowpe Road passing Waterfoot Health Centre. Continue to follow the Cowpe Road for approximately 500 metres, and then take a right turn following the Pennine Bridleway signs and the Loop 3 waymarkers. Continue to follow the Loop 3 waymarkers. On your return to the main A681 at Stacksteads, turn left and either follow the main road back into Waterfoot or jump on the 464 bus.
