The Boo in Waterfoot is a family-friendly arts venue for Rossendale and home to the Horse + Bamboo Theatre Company. It is a centre for imaginative, intelligent and playful creative work, a theatre space and creative hub for the region.
Set in the beautiful Whitaker Park in the Valley of Rossendale the museum displays interesting local history, paintings, and Victorian natural history collections and a very active contemporary art gallery. There’s also a wonderful café/restaurant. Keep your eye out for the fantastic Acoustic Nights.
A walk up to the Halo is a great way to commence your visit to the town of Haslingden and on a clear day you can see the city of Manchester and the hills of North Wales. There’s a network of footpaths and woodland walks in the area. The Shoe Trail can be accessed from the Halo which takes you to East Lancashire Railway at Rawtenstall (just follow the clay shoes) or the old Kings Highway, a former packhorse trail, will take you to Stonefold Village, Accrington and beyond.
East Lancashire’s Contemporary Art Gallery situated in the town of Rawtenstall at the end of M66 link Road and Northern Terminus of the East Lancashire Railway. We’re at the Gateway to Rossendale just 35 minutes drive from Manchester City Centre and served by regular Bus Services and the Heritage Railway. Top Selling Artists featured are: Rozanne Bell, Elaine Cooper, Jonathan Shaw, Ruby Keller, Allan Morgan & Nigel Cooke. The Rossendale Players have been producing plays in the Valley of Rossendale for almost 70 years. A new exciting chapter began with the opening of THE NEW MILLENNIUM THEATRE in September 2000. Many of our members have been nominated for and won various awards by both NODA and GMDF over the ten years of productions here.
Whatever the history, the ‘Nutters’ are fiercely proud of their tradition and are much loved and respected by the people of Bacup. One thing is certain wherever the ‘Nutters’ go, their appearance, the dances, the music and name of Bacup remains vivid in the memory of the people because nowhere is there a traditional dance team quite like The Britannia Coconut Dancers! In a word – they are unique!
